Anuj Parekh is the Co-Founder and CEO of BharatSure — a Mumbai-based insurtech startup on a mission to democratise group insurance in India. An IIM-Bangalore MBA and Chartered Accountant by training, Anuj co-founded BharatSure in 2021 alongside his longtime friend Sanil Basutkar, after identifying a massive opportunity in India’s chronically underpenetrated insurance market where nearly 90 crore citizens lack health security. BharatSure provides an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) model that enables insurance intermediaries — brokers, agents, banks, and SMEs — to seamlessly distribute group insurance products through white-label dashboards, real-time pricing engines covering 25+ insurers, and embedded insurance APIs. The company has raised $3.25M across four rounds from Inflection Point Ventures, Capital-A, Grip Invest, Dexter Angels, and Campus Fund, and has partnered with 500+ organisations covering 200,000+ lives — targeting 1 crore insured Indians in the coming years. Before BharatSure, Anuj worked on the Virgin Hyperloop consulting project and scaled operations at Mahindra’s startup SmartShift. BharatSure was awarded Most Innovative Concept of the Year at India Fintech Awards 2023 and was named among the Top 50 InsurTech companies in APAC. Anuj’s vision is a future where group insurance is the primary driver of India’s insurance penetration, just as it has been in developed economies.
